Roman Day – CE1

The students enjoyed a wonderful Roman Day yesterday, filled with discoveries, learning experiences, and a variety of engaging activities.

First of all, we would like to highlight how beautifully the students were dressed for the occasion. Togas, laurel wreaths, period costumes, and various accessories allowed everyone to fully immerse themselves in the world of Ancient Rome. A big thank you to the families for their participation and effort in preparing these costumes, which greatly contributed to the success of the day.

Throughout the day, the students explored Roman civilization through a range of workshops and activities:

  • Making a fibula, an accessory used by the Romans to fasten their clothing;
  • An introduction to pottery, allowing students to discover a traditional craft of the period;
  • Building Roman monuments with Kapla blocks, which encouraged creativity, observation skills, and teamwork;
  • Creating an impressive Kapla reproduction of the Pont du Gard, with the support of the Kapla team;
  • Taking part in an oral quiz on Roman civilization, during which students answered questions and worked with various images to identify characters, objects, monuments, and other features characteristic of Roman culture.

The students were highly engaged, curious, and enthusiastic throughout the day. They participated in all the activities with great seriousness and interest while enjoying a hands-on and interactive approach to learning.

Please find attached a selection of photographs from this wonderful day. These will give your child the opportunity to share with you the discoveries they made, the projects they completed, and the many things they learned.

We would like to congratulate the students on their commitment, curiosity, enthusiasm, and excellent behaviour throughout all the activities.
